Articles about Entertaiment

The word entertain has come to mean a pleasing or agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement. It may refer to a simple activity such as doing the daily crossword puzzle or an elaborate production, such as a ball or a circus performance. Entertainment has a strong sense of fun and laughter attached to it, although many entertainments have a serious or even moral purpose—such as a religious festival, ceremony, or satire. The word derives from the Latin intertenere, based on the prefix inter- meaning “inside” and the suffix -tenere, derived from the Indo-European root ten, which means to hold.
