Fashion is a form of art that involves choosing and wearing a style. It can include clothes, shoes and accessories, but also hairstyles and makeup. For some people, keeping up with fashion trends is a big part of their lives. Others just want to look good and express their personal style.
Clothes have long been used as symbols of power, wealth and status. For example, men’s suits were once a symbol of social rank and class, while women’s dresses reflected their social status. Today, clothing is not only used to protect us from cold temperatures or satisfy our vanity but it can also have a political and ideological significance. It has the power to amplify our voices and inspire solidarity, challenge societal norms and promote equality.
One of the most important things to remember about fashion is that it is always changing. Trends have a life cycle of 5 stages:
Introduction – this is when the trend is first introduced and seen. This can be through catwalk shows, celebrity wear or influencers. This is where we get to see the new styles and colors for the season.
Adoption – this is when the new trends become popular and widespread. We can start to see them in stores, magazines and on social media. This stage is usually the fastest moving because we can often predict what will be “in”.
Decline – this is when the trend has reached its peak popularity and begins to lose steam. This is where we may start to see sales and discounts on the old style.
