Wellness and Relationships

Relationships

Relationships are a central part of a well-rounded life. They offer a wealth of benefits including lower stress levels, restful sleep, improved mental health and robust physical health. Relationships are also the foundation of a good quality of life and help to keep us on track with our wellness goals when we may be tempted to eat that extra cookie or skip a workout.

Relationships can be platonic or romantic in nature and can exist between people who are married, dating, living together or a just friends. Traditionally a specific event, like a wedding, determined whether a couple was considered pre-marital or in a marital relationship, but in recent years the lines have become more blurred.

A thriving relationship should be mutually beneficial. It should make you both happy and keep your lives full of positive memories and experiences. Having someone in your corner can boost your confidence and encourage you to take more risks and chase your dreams. Having a supportive partner can also encourage you to spend less time with toxic people and environments that can have negative impacts on your overall wellness.

When you love someone, you’re willing to put their needs and happiness above your own. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. It’s about being there for them when they need you, and doing the little things that show that you care. When you’re in a healthy loving relationship, you should always feel excited to see them and have butterflies in your stomach.
