Healthy Relationships

Relationships are an important part of living a full life. They provide us with a sense of belonging, support and security. They can also be a source of joy and happiness. When relationships are healthy, they can help us cope with the ups and downs of life.

Healthy Relationships

When two people are in a relationship they naturally care for one another, demonstrating empathy and respect for each other. They support each other emotionally, physically and financially. Healthy relationships are mutual, with room for both partners to grow and develop in different ways. People in healthy relationships are able to talk openly about their needs and concerns without accusing or making personal attacks. They also make a point of listening to one another, and double checking that they understood what their partner said.

It is important for people to have healthy friendships outside of their relationship as a way of maintaining their self-esteem and feeling happy, confident and capable. Having healthy social connections can also help people when they are going through challenges in their relationships as they can serve as a reminder that they have other supportive people they can turn to. In addition, if someone is having trouble in their relationship it may be helpful to seek out therapy either individually or as a couple. Talk therapy can be an effective tool for working through problems in relationships and helping couples find resolutions that work for them.
